Thank you for looking at my webpage. My name is Tracey Riggott and I welcome you to Self Perception Therapies. I am a registered and accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and have 13 years of experience in offering one to one counselling for adults. No matter what challenges you are facing, therapy is a time for you, for you to be listened to, to be heard, you do not have to do this on your own. I enjoy my work and want to support you in exploring your thoughts and feelings, for you to gain confidence in yourself. I will facilitate and support you, providing an accepting, non-judgemental, safe, and confidential space. A space and a time where you can really talk and work at your own pace in exploring and reflecting upon what you are experiencing from your past, or the present. This is about you, and I will work with you to address your needs. I will support you in gaining a greater understanding of yourself, for you to improve your quality of life and make your own decisions in moving forwards.
I partake in ongoing professional development to ensure that I continue to provide a high standard of service within the counselling profession and adhere to the BACP ethical framework and code of good practice. I have full insurance, and an enhanced DBS certificate. I am also registered with the information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
My counselling journey began in 2008 and continues to be a journey of professional and personal development. I have supported a wide range of clients experiencing many different issues. I am often told by clients that I am a friendly and approachable person that has helped in making it possible to put their feelings in to words, to be able to share difficult and distressing experiences and the impact upon themselves. I care about what I do, and I value client’s wellbeing on their journey throughout therapy.
From 2008-2012 my volunteering work was at a female refuge support group where I counselled survivors of domestic abuse.
From 2012-2024 I worked for a charity that supports people affected by another person’s drug or alcohol misuse. I was the counselling co-ordinator for several years and in addition to my counselling, on a one-to-one basis, I offered Reiki (energy work) and mindfulness relaxation techniques. I have facilitated art groups, peer led support groups and focus groups in mindfulness. I co-created and delivered community rehabilitation programmes offering psychological support to small groups of individuals suffering with alcohol or drug dependency alongside one of their family members or friends. Over the last 2 years I have been the lead for male domestic abuse, offering males practical and emotional support.
